Well, India is extremely diversified in terms of tourist places. As India lies in the southern part of Asia and due to its geographical location i.e. Three side water & one side mountain, there is immense variety for the tourists to visit! From the great Himalayas, to the deserts, to the greeny mountain ranges, to the extremely beautiful coastline adds to its beauty. The exciting places differ from person to person though. But for me, I am a Mountain person!
Recently I had been to Sikkim. I saw the great Himalayas for the First time and I fell in love with that View. The Northeastern Himalayas are just Fabulous! So, If you are a mountain person I will definitely recommend you to visit Sikkim. 8 days are quite sufficient to cover the main places. In Sikkim, the must-visit places are –
1. Gangtok City – Gangtok is the capital of the northern Indian state of Sikkim. The entire city is situated in the mountains. Ganpati Tok, Hanuman Tok, Rumtek Monastery, MG Road, Tashi viewpoint, Enchey Monastery, The Great Buddha Statue, International Flower Festival Gangtok, Seven sisters waterfall, Cable Car RopeWay are some of the famous tourist attractions.
2. Nathula Pass & Tsomgo lake – Located at an altitude of 14,140 feet and 56kms from Gangtok. Because of the high altitude at Nathula, the oxygen level in the air is quite low. Few can face breathing problems at Nathula. But the view there is just mind-boggling.
It is the Indo-China border. The glimpse of the Himalaya from 14140 feet just can’t be expressed through the words. Even the camera doesn’t make justice to it! The Tsomgo Lake is worth seeing mostly in the winters as the lake is completely frozen due to its altitude of 12,313 feet.
3. Pelling – It is famous for the closer view of The Himalayas and the Kangchenjunga. Apart from this, Local Monastry and Rock garden are the tourist attractions.
4. Darjeeling – Darjeeling is a part of West Bengal but can be easily covered in a Sikkim trip as the Bagdogra airport which most of the tourists come by is near. Batasia Loop, The World famous Toy Train and Tea Plantations, Darjeeling Ropeway, Zoological Park, Mirik Lake, and Shopping Market are some of the favorite tourist attractions. But apart from these, my favorite place in Darjeeling is the Tiger Hill. If you want to witness the first rays of sun hitting the twin peaks of Kangchenjunga, along with a panoramic view of Everest peeping through the peaks standing by its side, then Tiger Hills will be a perfect sunrise viewing point for you. Perhaps the splendid sunrise through the peaks is what makes it one of the most favorite place in Darjeeling.
5. Kalimpong – The city is well known for its adventure sports. Teesta River with its green surroundings is the best choice for River Rafting in Kalimpong. My paragliding experience here was like soar through the clear blue skies while I paraglide over the scenic beauty like a bird high above.
( The Nathula Pass, Tsomgo Lake, Gangtok City, and Darjeeling are THE MUST TO VISIT places according to me).
Well Lastly, I would say just one thing – Incredible India! 🇮🇳 traveller bus service
